(NG00126) C. F. Martin Ditson 111
Harry L. Hunt is the original designer of the Dreadnaught Guitar. He was the manager for Chas. H. Ditson Music Store Located in Boston, NY.
In 1915 he sent the specs to C. F. Martin Co. and had these guitars made for sale in the music store he managed for Oliver Ditson. This Guitar was named after a British Battle ship which at this time the name was in the news everywhere. The name Dreadnaught (Spelled with an "A" by Americans at that time) Referred to the era's largest and most powerful Battleship.
The original Oliver Ditson Co., Boston, New York" stamp created in 1916 was retrieved from the C. F. Martin archives and used on the back of the headstock and inside the guitar on the center strip. At last this spectacular sounding and historically important guitar is now once again available.
